FAQs

  • The dinghy, also known as the “ tender”, is the small boat that we use to ferry guests and supplies to and from land and our means of transportation to explore shallow areas. Nadiya has a 12’6” Highfield powered by a 30hp two stroke motor. On days where the wind and waves pick up, the dinghy can get a bit splashy, hence the reason why we recommend bringing quick dry clothes. It is not required to wear a life jacket in the dinghy, however we can provide you one upon request.

  • Yes, we do. We have six pole spears available for use by guests as well as multiple sets of masks, snorkels and fins. If you are looking to spend a lot of time in the water, we recommend brining your own mask and snorkel. The gear we provide is more than intermediate / adequate for beginners, but there is no substitution for a personally fitted, high quality mask when it comes to fogging up and or leaking.

Nadiya is equipped with four offshore fishing combos, and four light tackle combos. Guests are more than welcome to utilize them once they have been properly shown how. In the event of damaged equipment, guest will be expected to cover the costs of replacements. A few lost lures and hooks here and there are fine, but anything excessive will need to be replaced.

  • To officially book your trip a deposit must be made to hold your dates. When you are ready to book we will send you a booking contract which spells out the details.

  • Yes, it is customary to tip your crew in cash as you would for any other service. Twenty percent or more is the average in the charter industry. Nearly all of the cost for your trip is re-invested or spent on insurance, licenses, boat payments and other running costs for Nadiya. Therefore, we very much appreciate your gratuity for a bit of extra cash for personal expenses.

  • Yes, there are two adult sized, offshore rated life jackets in each cabin (one for each guest). In addition, we have comfort orientated life jackets for paddle boarding and or swimming. There are two children's sized offshore jackets (orange style), but we recommend that parents bring their own life jackets that are fitted to the child.

  • Each cabin has it’s own wet shower next to the head (toilet). They are private and roomy. There is hot water available most times, although we encourage guest to be conservative with showers as we need to make all water onboard and heat it. Not a difficult process, but i’m sure you’d rather have us taking you on adventures instead of staying back to run the water maker right? If you do not have hot water and would like a hot shower, let us know so we can turn the water heater on.

There is also a hose on the back of the boat for fresh water rinsing. We ask that whenever you come aboard Nadiya you wash your feet as well as any other part of your body that got wet from salt water. Salt water is highly corrosive and once fabric gets wet from salt water it will feel wet for days. Trust me, you do not want to get into bed salty!

The toilet is the same as your toilet at home except when you finish you use two buttons to flush. One brings salt water in, and the other operates a macerator (think garbage disposal in your sink) to remove waste from the bowl. It is very important to not use excessive amounts of toilet paper, sanitary pads or anything other than human waste does not go into the toilet. Instead there is a small trash can under the sink for disposing of these items. If a toilet gets clogged because of non-human material. it is a major set back for the trip as your captain will be spending half a day dissembling the plumbing system to unclog and the entire boat will smell.

VERY, very, very important…..other than conservative amounts of toilet paper, If it did not come out of your body it DOES NOT go into the toilet, please.

  • Cash is king in the Bahamas, especially for tipping your crew at the end of your trip (wink wink). There are establishments that take card, but it is not guaranteed. US dollars are interchangeable with Bahamas dollars. ATMs are available. Be sure to spend all your Bahamas dollars before you leave!

  • Nadiya is a very safe and stable boat. No, she will not tip over. It is impossible in the type of conditions for which you will be sailing in. She is equipped with a fire extinguisher in each cabin as well as one in each engine room, ten total onboard. She has a fully stocked first aid kit and her captain is trained in CPR and First Aid. There are local hospitals and clinics on the islands in case of a severe emergency.

  • Yes, maybe. There are three queen sized beds aboard Nadiya, one in each guest cabin. Nadiya can accommodate one to six guests, so whether or not you get your own bed is up to you. Typically, we do not allow guests to sleep on the couch, in the cockpit or anywhere else on the boat outside of the guest cabin unless all guests are ok with it. This way the boat stays open and available for all other guest to use early in the morning or late at night.

  • We sure do! Our best friend Torpedo is just as much a part of this crew as we are. He is a six pound, Chihuahua/Schnauzer mix. As much as we love dogs (especially Danielle), we ask that dogs that will not fit in your lap or a small carrier not be brought aboard Nadiya. All dogs brought aboard must be pre-approved, trained and well-behaved. Be aware that the process of importing a pet into the Bahamas is very time consuming and expensive.

  • We have Starlink internet board Nadiya which is available when we are 10 miles or less from shore. Starlink does not work for standard calls or SMS, However, there is good service in the Bahamas. Typically your carrier will charge a daily or weekly fee for international usage.

  • Your towels, bedding and linens will be freshly washed when you arrive aboard Nadiya, and we will wash them when you leave. If you need to wash clothes while on the trip we can show you to the nearest laundry mat, keep in mind it is slow and time consuming. If something is spilled on or stained let us know, we’ll help you wash it on the boat.

  • Nadiya has very stable sea motion. While at anchor you will barely notice that you are on a boat. When moving, she still has far less motion than a smaller boat but much more than a cruise ship as most people are used to. Majority of people who have gotten sick on small boats in the past will do fine on Nadiya. However, if you suffer from motion sickness or anticipate that you might, bring dramamine and take it each night or as advised on the package.

  • That is up to you! In a normal trip, we will always be in site of the islands and in calm water. We will stay close to land in the lee of the island (not on the windy and wavy side). So no, we will typically not be out in big seas. However, if guests want to head to the deep blue for some offshore fishing or sailing and we determine the conditions to be safe we are all about it!

  • Kind of. We keep the boat very clean, and expect guests to keep all of their personal belongings in their cabins to ensure the boat is clutter free both for comfort and safety. We will not be making your bed and putting mints on your pillows. Sorry, there are no towel animals onboard Nadiya each time you return to the room. However, if you need us to address any cleaning issue in your cabin or bathroom please do not hesitate to ask, we’ll take care of it. No, you will not be cooking, doing any dishes or cleaning up after others on this trip, we’ll take care of that.

  • Yes, Nadiya is fully insured and Brenton holds both a USCG and Bahamian Captains License. Guest will be expected to sign a liability waiver before they board the boat.

  • We recommend using flights.google.com to book flights. Some trips may require using a secondary local airline. Once you fly in, you’ll take a taxi from the airport to our anchorage which will vary depending on weather. We’ll let you know a few days before you land where you’ll be meeting us, but it will never be too far from the airport. We’ll pick you up in the dinghy, usually we take bags out first while guests relax on the beach or grab a drink.

Exumas - Fly into Nassau and use Flamingo air fly in and out of Blackpoint Airport (MYEB)

Eleuthera - Fly into Northern Eleuthera Airport via Pineapple air or other major carriers. (MYEH)

Georgetown - Fly into Exuma International Airport (MYEF)

  • We have standard 110 volt outlets in each cabin. Please refrain from using power outlets for anything other than charging phones / tablets / low power devices in the evening, as it will drain our batteries. We do not recommend bringing hair dryers and straighteners.

  • In order for your crew to have enough time to reset the boat and rest in between trips we ask that guests arrive to Nadiya after 11:00 am and depart before 1:00 pm. If you need us to hang on to your luggage or pick it up early the day of your arrival or departure we are more than happy to do so.

  • Yes! We are happy to add days to your trip for an added cost.

  • Only if you are a jerk.
